Distinguish course, visa and activity type
Language courses, degree courses, paid work, unpaid internships and volunteering are not the same thing. Whether a person can undertake an activity depends on visa or permission conditions, course and individual facts; a classmate’s arrangement, school marketing or job title is not proof that you may work.
Use current official pages for restrictions
Read the UK Government Student visa and work pages, then cross-check against the conditions on the visa document and a written reply from the school’s international-student team. Rules can vary by course level, sponsorship, duration and status; this guide does not make an individual eligibility decision.
Put questions in writing before accepting any arrangement
Write to the school or qualified adviser with the course, campus, dates, proposed activity, pay status and weekly hours. Keep the reply, contract or job description, but never alter attendance, evidence or personal history to fit a role.
Keep the study plan primary
Even where an activity may be permitted, test whether attendance, coursework, commuting and rest are sustainable. A course change, absence, extension or employment change is a reason to ask again; use official or qualified channels for a dispute or formal legal question.
