Make one offline first-week card
Save the accommodation address, campus address, school duty phone, transfer or public-transport route, check-in time and emergency contacts on both phone and paper. Internet, battery and luggage can all be unreliable on arrival; a card that does not require login is safer than last-minute searching.
Choose transport tools by city and class time
Use Transport for Ireland to check buses, rail or tram for the city where you will live, and test separate routes for early class, late class and weekend. Travel cards, student discounts and fares can have eligibility or application conditions; do not assume a concession applies before course and identity conditions are confirmed.
Prepare communications by separating number, roaming and authentication
Before departure, check that the phone is unlocked, whether it can receive verification texts, whether key accounts have a backup authentication route, and the network rules at campus and home. Decide on a local SIM or eSIM after arrival from real coverage, budget and duration; do not make codes stored only on the original number the sole route into accounts.
Make health and safety contacts usable offline
Save school, accommodation, insurance, local health-advice and emergency-service contacts, and know a nearby place to seek help. Personal health needs and insurance scope must be confirmed through the policy, provider and official channel; do not share passport, medical-record or full insurance pages in public chats.
