Use this content as a planning framework. School availability, promotions, visa, entry and travel rules can change; verify current requirements with the relevant authority before making a binding decision.

Identify the responsible authority by nationality, course and purpose of stay

Costa Rica’s migration and foreign-affairs public service information are official entry points for visa and stay questions. Passport nationality, course character and intended purpose of stay can affect which channel must be consulted first; a school letter explains the study plan but cannot alone decide visa or temporary-residence eligibility.

Make the study evidence a traceable timeline

Obtain course, campus, dates, fees, reporting details and a contact from the school, and keep them aligned with passport, accommodation and funding explanations. If translation, authentication or additional material is needed, use only current written direction from the relevant mission, migration authority or school, not an unverified template.

Reserve recheck points for arrival and an extended stay

At submission, departure and after arrival, retain official notices, appointments, payments and school emails. Before a course extension, transfer or changed purpose of stay, ask the school to explain the new arrangement and confirm with Costa Rica’s official migration or foreign-affairs channel whether it affects current status or calls for another step.
