Distinguish Certificate of Eligibility from the visa application
Longer study in Japan commonly involves a Certificate of Eligibility (COE) application in Japan by the school or representative, while visa application is handled by the overseas mission under its requirements. COE, visa, airline boarding and post-arrival residence steps are not one result; ask the school which stage it handles and what evidence it expects.
Make school records support a true Japanese-study plan
Confirm course, campus, start date, fees, attendance and housing with the school, using passport name and date of birth consistently throughout. Funding explanation should fit tuition and living plan; never substitute edited bank images, an invented sponsor relationship or an unrelated narrative for genuine evidence.
Continue checks after arrival through residence-card and school reporting steps
Immigration Services Agency residence information is an official entry point for post-arrival procedures. Flight, address, school reporting and later changes require school and authority direction. If course, address or passport changes, retain old and new records rather than deciding current residence conditions from an old COE or another student’s experience.
